The 7,000-acre-island of Swan’s Island is accessible by ferry service originating in Bass Harbor. The year-round population of the island is approximately 350 people, with around 1000 people during the summertime. Aside from lobstering, one of the main attractions of Swan’s Island remains the scenic Burnt Coal Harbor Lighthouse located on the peninsula of Hockamock Head.
